Akira Sky’s background as a fully independent singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist allows her to blend dream pop and alt-pop textures with her signature smooth, rich voice. She grew up in L.A. and now lives in Brooklyn. Akira began writing songs and playing piano and guitar in elementary school. In her teens, she had the opportunity to perform at venues like the Hollywood Bowl and Whisky a GoGo.
“Block My Number” is moody, cinematic, and emotionally charged. The video, directed by Luiza Botelho, was shot across Manhattan and Brooklyn and features Brazilian actor and model Pablo Morais.
Akira’s influences range from Janelle Monáe to Dodie and Prince, allowing her to explore different lanes and define her musical path.
